In January 2010 a massive earthquake struck Haiti, killing over 300,000 people and making 1.5 million people homeless.
The disaster was the worst in the history of a country that has been ravaged by conflict and crisis.
Two years after the earthquake struck, the ruins of the Cathedral in the centre of Port au Prince offered a reminder of the tragedy of that fateful morning.
Born in reality … searching myself … craving for fantasy … a story to tell.
Now I’m awake … and ready to fly … no longer afraid …
my old life will die.
As a child Ken was quickly enthused with playing videogames on Nintendo and PC.
But once he saw the magic of movies and Hollywood in the ’80s …
… he uncovered a whole new world of terminators, aliens, ghostbusters, gremlins, Jedi, creepy monsters and young wizards.
From there he slid further into the more serious undertone of Hollywood, and found an unlikely fondness for movies that weren’t always science-fiction or fantasy.
In the ’90s Ken became a full-grown movie buff watching more than a hundred movies in the cinema per year.
By the end of the decade he’d seen several thousands of movies, and counting.
(owning close to five thousand movies and TV-shows on DVD/Blu-ray).
The first story Ken ever wrote was about two dwarfs, Pimpel and Pinnemuts (Pimpel & Pinecap) who went on an adventure to save Princess Dala and bring back her treasure.
It was a simple story (as Ken was barely 13 years old when he started) full of dinosaurs and ugly monsters like Striker X and The Vomit.
….
But amazingly enough he finished it.

Then came the 2000s.
Movies grew shallow … and the world of television took its place. It was the birth of:
It was around this time that Ken picked up his writing skills.
He began to work on a story revolving around terrorism (after the events of 9/11), a story he called ‘A necessary evil’.
This story was written in Dutch but centered in/around New York.
Then he began working on a children’s story, in Dutch, a book he called ‘Amedee het washandje’ (Amedee the washing cloth).
This time Ken would go all the way!
…
And indeed, on the 30th of Octobre 2015, Ken published his first book ever!
Although the success of this book was marginal (barely 200 copies sold), the knowledge that it brought a smile to many kids’ faces was all he could hope for.
Rather than pursuing a career as a writer of children’s books (something Ken still aspires today)
he chose to write his MOST IMPORTANT book ever!!
This story would take 20 years in the making and become such a vital part of his life … that it would forever change his outlook on all things nature.
It would be the beginning of an epic journey … one that could potentially change the world FOREVER!
